SB K-Rail Project

Selected out of 60 entries, I designed a public art installation for the Santa Barbara K-Rail project that turns plain traffic barriers into a bold visual system at the entrance to State Street.

  • Selected out of 60 entries, I developed a public art and wayfinding-inspired design for the Santa Barbara K-Rail installation, transforming bland, uninspiring traffic barriers into a cohesive visual system that reflects the character of downtown Santa Barbara. The project reimagines a typically overlooked infrastructural element as a bold civic marker at the gateway to State Street.

Each 24" × 63" graphic is divided into 8 panels featuring iconic city elements, creating a rhythmic visual language that celebrates local identity at scale. Designed for high visibility and durability, the system balances simplified forms and strong composition to ensure clarity from a distance while rewarding closer engagement.
